Self-Hypnosis Instructions

As part of your program, you most likely learned self hypnosis. To get the most out of self-hypnosis, you will want to create a similar experience to the session(s) at our office. 

Start with a nice comfortable area:
Similar to the hypnosis sessions at our office, you will want to do self-hypnosis in a nice comfortable area where you can fully relax undisturbed for about 20 minutes or so. A recliner, couch or a bed is most suitable. You will also want to do hypnosis when you are a bit drowsy. Never attempt self-hypnosis while driving or performing any other activity that requires your full attention.

Using Headphones:
While headphones are not required for hypnosis, using them will help get you more into the session while cutting out on background sounds, which may be a bit distracting. 

How To Word The Suggestions:
Before you begin hypnosis you will want to think of 2 or 3 lines of suggestions beforehand. Suggestions are phrases that you will want to repeat over and over again to yourself during the hypnosis process. Remember that when suggestions come from your mind, they are never wrong. Therefore, it is impossible to mess up or give yourself negative suggestions that will cause harm. However, to ensure that they have the full effect, keep them present, positive, and in the 1st person state - as if you already fully met the goal.

Example:
"I am a full non-smoker"
"I do not smoke"
"Smoking makes me feel sick"

Instead of...
"I want to stop smoking"
"I wish I could quit smoking"

You can either repeat these statements over and over again out loud or in your mind, or if your prefer you can simply picture your life in a way that is consistant with the change you want to make. For example, if you smoke while driving, picture yourself driving - without smoking. If you need specific ideas for a particular issue or problem, just ask us and we will recommend some to you.

Enter Hypnosis:
To make your self-hypnosis easier, we have included a self-hypnosis audio which will guide you into a hypnotic trance. This audio begins by getting you relaxed and counting you into hypnosis. In the middle of the audio, there is a silent area where you can insert your own suggestions.

Exit Hypnosis:
As part of your program, we implanted an auto suggestion for exiting hypnosis from one of two ways. If you are in a safe and comfortable place such as home and in bed, you can drift off to sleep after your session. Or, if you need to bring yourself out of hypnosis, the audio will bring you back out of hypnosis.

Practice Makes Perfect:
While we do not expect clients to become professional Hypnotherapist's following a single visit with us, self-hypnosis is not a very difficult process. However, just like anything else in life, the more you practice, the easier it becomes. Therefore, while you may find it to be a bit challenging at first, stick with it and keep trying.
